Overdraft Protection

Overdraft from linked savings account: If you opt in and have insufficient funds in your checking account, the credit union will transfer funds from your linked savings account to cover the transaction. If you choose not to opt in, your debit card and ATM transactions may decline when your account has insufficient funds.

  • Transfers only occur if enough money is available in the linked savings account
  • Fee: There is no fee for overdraft transfers made from your linked savings account.

Courtesy Pay

Courtesy Pay: This privilege, if qualifications are met, is automatically added for personal checking accounts, that have been opened for at least 6 months and will be limited to a maximum of $500 overdraft (negative) balances. All fees and charges will be included in this limit.

  • We will authorize and pay overdrafts for the following transactions:
    • Checks
    • Recurring Bill Payments
    • Electronic debits cleared through the Automatic Clearing House(ACH)
  • We will not authorize and pay overdrafts using Courtesy Pay for the following transaction types:
    • ATM and Debit Card transactions
  • Fees: A $30 fee will be charged per item paid into overdraft. A fee can be assessed each time an item is represented.

We pay overdrafts at our discretion, which means we do not guarantee that we will always authorize and pay any type of transaction.  If we do not authorize and pay an overdraft, your transaction will be declined.

Courtesy Pay allows Altamaha Federal Credit Union to provide a higher level of service to our members by helping to protect their accounts and reputation when an inadvertent overdraft occurs.
