Spotlighting Our Scholarship Winners

Kellie PenixMs. Kellie Penix, daughter of Terry and Sandra Penix of Jesup, is one of the winners of our $1,500 scholarship for 2003-2004. She graduated in the top part of her class with an average of 96 and has also been solo majorette for two years.

Kellie was born and raised in Jesup and has two brothers, Matthew, currently attending UGA, and Blake who is 10.

Kellie told us she plans to attend Georgia Southern University where she will be featured twirler with the band. She will begin her studies in the Dietetics field and is interested in personal training and weight lifting, as well as working with kids who are asthmatic or have eating disorders. It sounds like Kellie has set some awesome goals for her life and is anxious to begin. Congratulations, Ms. Kellie Penix and best wishes from everyone at your
community credit union in your hometown!

Ashby BrannenMr. Ashby Brannen, son of C.F. and Wanda Brannen of Jesup is also a winner of Altamaha Federal Credit Union’s scholarship for 2003- 2004. Ashby has been a member of the WCHS football team, track team, 4-H Club and others. He is a member of the First Baptist Church where he serves as fellowship coordinator for his Sunday School class and a member of the Youth Program. Some of his accomplishments include Best Offensive Lineman, football homecoming court and a contestant in the male “Cutie Beauty” competition.

Ashby will enter Valdosta State University in August where he will study Business Administration and Finance. He plans to either work in or own a business.

Altamaha Federal Credit Union congratulates Ashby and believes that he will have great success. May you have all the best, Ashby!

Identity Fraud
Defending Your Life

Here’s how you can protect yourself from identity theft:
Safeguard your Social Security Number. Don’t carry your card around in your wallet. And if your employer or health plan ID has the number on it, ask for a different “identifier.” Request passwords for credit cards and bank accounts. This includes teller transactions.

Check your credit reports. Every six months look for suspicious activity. TransUnion, Experian and Equifax make them available online for $9 per report. (If you have been victimized by fraud,
